Several teams traveled to Pittsburgh to participate in Steel City Freeze!

Eight teams traveled through the winter "elements" to compete

in Steel City Freeze for the 4th year!

Despite the messy wintry mix on Friday evening, parents, players, coaches and directors braved the elements to get their players to Pittsburgh to play Steel City Freeze.  It was a long drive!!!

Twisters, EDGE 15, Fury, Diggerz, EDGE 16, Crush, Wolves and Peak all arrive safely on Friday night and winded down to get ready for play on Saturday morning. 

Peak, EDGE 15 and EDGE 16 kicked off the morning wave.   Playing in 16 Open, EDGE 16 had a successful morning  finishing 3-0.  EDGE 15, playing in 15 Open, fought hard but struggling finishing 0-3.  Peak also finished 0-3 on Saturday morning.

In the afternoon, all of the other teams were on deck. 

Twisters had the most successful afternoon finishing 3-0 with only 8 girls!  Fury and Crush followed with 2-1 finish.  Wolves and Diggerz finished 1-2 and 0-3 respectively with some hard fought close matches. 

Fury kicked the morning on Sunday with a win and then lose to move to Silver Bracket for the final match.  They lost in the first round of the Silver finishing 11th overall out of 34 teams. 

Also in the morning, EDGE 16 was in Gold Bracket and lost their first match in a battle to drop the consolidation match. In their final match, they fought hard losing their 1st set 28-26 and making a comeback from 19-12 to lose their 2nd set 25-20.  They finished 7th overall in 16 Open. 

Also, Twisters started their morning in the gold challenge match and fall short to their opponent to move to Silver Bracket.  They finished 9th overall in a field of 36. 

Crush also played in a gold challenge match in the morning and lost and drop to the Silver Bracket. They finished 13th overall in a field of 31. 

Wolves, playing in the Bronze Bracket, lost 3-set match in 1st round but won their final match to finish 21st.

Diggerz finished strong on Day 2 winning their final match of the tournament and placing 31st overall. 

Peak had an exciting afternoon match when Coach Kwoka stepped in to coach their final match and the girls worked hard to win their 2nd set of their final match but lost the match in 3. 

It was a great weekend of volleyball and team bonding.  The girls and their families along the coaches and directors has a fun time in Steel City and are looking forward to next year


Teams also Competed in the CHRVA and KRVA Region!

EDGE 17 PARTICIPATED IN MDJRS 17 OPEN!

In pool play, EDGE 17 finished 2-4 which sent them to the Silver Bracket. In the Silver bracket, they defeated MDJRS OPEN 17 in the semi final but then lost to MDJRS Elite in the Silver Final.

EDGE 14 traveled to Virginia to compete in Braddock Road 14 Open 

In pool play, EDGE 14 went 3-3 which not enough to qualify for the Gold Bracket. In the Silver Bracket, they won the semi final match vs Virginia Top Team 14 adidas and faced MOJO Elite Blaze 14. In the final, they won 3 set match to win the Silver Bracket. 


Arsenal played in  Synergy 15 All American in the Keystone Region

 In pool play, Arsenal finished 5-2 . They won their quarter finals match and lost in the semi finals to finish 3rd overall in 12 team tournament. 

Shock played in Columbia 16 Mixed

Finishing 1-5 in pool play, they advanced to the Silver Bracket where they lost in the semi-finals. 

 


Premier Easton made their debut in the

tournament play this past weekend

 

Coast played on Saturday in MDJRS 17/18 Mixed and Shore played on Sunday in Mason Dixon 14 Invitational.  The girls may not won their matches but they continued to improve throughout the day. For many of them, it was their first time playing in a club tournaments. It was smiles all around for all players and coaches.
