Fun and Volleyball in D.C.

With the three day holiday weekend, 12 of our teams arrived to the Nation's Capitol to compete 2018 Capitol Hill Classic at the Washington Convention Center.  Most families arrived on Friday Night kicked off the fun and team bonding that evening at one of the two hotels we stayed at.

Then starting bright and early, 5 teams, EDGE 18, Arsenal, EDGE 16, Phoenix and EDGE 14 made their way to the convention before 8am to begin morning pool play.  After spending the morning relaxing at the hotel or hitting the sights in D.C.,  the remaining 7 teams, EDGE 17, Fusion, EDGE 15, Lightning, Pearl, Badgers and Panthers were up next in the afternoon wave.  While some the results were mixed, some teams doing better than they expected and other teams not meeting their expectations, the fun was still the same!

Saturday's results
The following teams stay in running for GOLD:
EDGE 17:  3-0
EDGE 15:  2-1
Fusion:  2-1
Lightning:  2-1
Badgers: 3-0
Panthers:  2-1

The rest of the teams fell unfortunately to Division 2 and now it would be a battle on Sunday to prove they did not belong there.

After Sunday's play, it set the stage for bracket play.

EDGE 17 was the top leader for the club and making their way to the GOLD bracket.

EDGE 15, Lightning and Badgers were  in the SILVER Bracket while EDGE 18 and Panthers were in BRONZE Bracket.

The rest of the teams were fighting in their respective Flight Bracket.

Highlights of Monday:

EDGE  17 lost their first match and finished 9th overall for the tournament.

EDGE 18  and Panthers won their bronze bracket and Pearl won their Flight Bracket.

The rest of the teams fought hard to win their bracket but all fall little short in an exciting final matches.

But all in all, it was a fun weekend with a lots of volleyball.
