Hailee gooch
HEAD COACH - WHITE SELECT 16

Coach Hailee believes in the positivity and healing of team sports, especially volleyball. Her passion has only grown stronger for the game since she became a coach. She focuses on the fundamentals, but always pushes her girls to go the extra mile and reach outside of their comfort zone. Hailee starts every practice with the girls listing one thing they’re thankful for and ends each practice with each girl listing a kudos for another player. She has a very uplifting and approachable coaching style, which allows the girls to grow continuously as strong leaders, smart players, great teammates, and positive young ladies.

Hailee attended Cape Henlopen High School where she lettered on varsity as a starter for three years. Two years she received All-Conference and was a captain her senior year. Hailee tore her Achilles the first day of pre-season at Salisbury University (SU) her freshman year. That fall, while she was in rehabilitation her freshman year, she was introduced to coaching intramural volleyball at Sussex Academy on crutches. Her freshman spring of college, was asked to coach the first JV team at Sussex Academy. She drove from SU every day the next three years to coach the first Sussex Academy JV & Varsity Girls Volleyball team. In 2017, her team was the first varsity female sports team at Sussex Academy to make an appearance in a State Tournament, in just three short years as a varsity program. She has been the head coach the last four seasons at Sussex Academy.

Hailee still enjoys playing adult drop-in throughout the year and occasional beach pick-up. Hailee is passionate about what she teaches and hopes to continue to spread the love of the game within the young ladies she works with! An injury she thought would end her love for playing only grew it more by allowing her the chance to coach!
